THE BRUSH AND THE CLAY

OPENING
THURSDAY APRIL 17, 2025
FROM 10AM TO 7PM

At Comptoir 102, we are always in search of the most inspiring talents from around the world, artists whose work embodies fluidity, raw beauty, and timeless craftsmanship. This season, we are proud to showcase The Ceramic Art of Samantha Kerdine, an artist known for her sculptural, hand-formed creations that blend delicate imperfection with quiet strength.

What makes Kerdine’s work truly captivating is her use of soft pastel hues and painterly finishes, transforming each piece into a harmonious blend of color and form. Her ceramics are not just objects - they are living compositions, where organic shapes meet ethereal tones, evoking a sense of serenity and poetry. A dialogue between earth and hand, her pieces carry a sense of movement, as if frozen in time yet effortlessly alive, telling stories of texture, balance, and artistic intuition

SAMANTHA KERDINE

Samantha Kerdine is a French ceramic artist whose work embodies a deep connection to nature, time, and organic form. Originally trained in fine arts and design, she discovered ceramics as a medium that allowed her to merge artistic expression with craftsmanship. Drawn to the tactile nature of clay, she developed a signature approach that embraces fluidity, imperfection, and raw textures, resulting in sculptural pieces that feel both ancient and contemporary. Her creations, often in neutral and earthy tones, explore the interplay of light, shadow, and movement, evoking a sense of serenity and timelessness.

Her work has been exhibited in galleries and design spaces across Europe and beyond, gaining recognition for its poetic balance between structure and spontaneity. Inspired by the natural world, her ceramics reject rigid symmetry in favor of organic, free-flowing forms, making each piece a unique expression of material and movement. Kerdine’s approach resonates with those who appreciate the beauty of handmade, slow-crafted objects, pieces that transcend trends and invite a deeper appreciation for artistry and texture in everyday life.
